Hi everyone

The Government has confirmed a move for all of NZ to the Traffic Light System on Friday 3rd December. Until that time, and unless otherwise changed by Government, Omanu will continue to operate as we are currently.

On Monday 29th November we will find out what ‘colour’ setting our region will have imposed.

In prepartion for the change we have completed the Government mandated WorkSafe Health & Safety Risk Assessment for the three areas of operation our Club has. Those areas are;

  • Hospitality (for ease of a boundary, all areas of the Clubhouse upstairs in the bar/café)
  • Retail (all other areas of the clubhouse including office, pro-shop, and club facilities on the ground floor)
  • The Course

We have also taken into consideration information provided from Golf NZ.

With that information, the Board has decided on the following approach.

GREEN SETTING

  • Hospitality – Vaccination Certificate Required
  • Retail – Open (No vaccination Certificate Required)
  • Course – Open (No vaccination Certificate Required)

ORANGE SETTING

  • Hospitality – Vaccination Certificate Required
  • Retail – Open (No vaccination Certificate Required), access limited to meet Social Distancing (up to 6 people including staff)
  • Course – Open (No vaccination Certificate Required)

RED SETTING

  • Hospitality – Vaccination Certificate Required, capacity capped, seated and separated
  • Retail – Open (No vaccination Certificate Required), access limited to meet Social Distancing (up to 6 people including staff)
  • Course – Open (No vaccination Certificate Required)

Please note, at all levels of operation we require masks to be worn around the Club facilities until on Course. We also encourage consistent use of Covid QR Scanning available throughout the Club. Thanks for your cooperation on those matters.

These requirements meet with the Government mandates.

I am currently working through how we will monitor vaccine passes and will provide more information next week.

In the meantime the starting point for members wanting to use the hospitality areas is to obtain their certificate, which can be done here; My Vaccine Pass | Unite against COVID-19 (covid19.govt.nz).

I ask for two things. Firstly, that as members we adopt some personal responsibility regarding risk assessment. The framework for operation that the Board has chosen complies with Government mandates and allows golf to be made available for everyone – a point supported by Golf NZ. But each individual is responsible to carry out their own risk assessment and decide for themselves if the Club operation meets their needs – I hope that every member continues to enjoy our Club, Course, Facilities, and Friendships.

Secondly, I ask that you continue to show respect and friendliness towards our staff – they never envisaged part of their role would include managing the in’s and out’s of Covid mandates. Accepting that there may be some teething issues around the management of this system will go a long way towards making their workplace an enjoyable one to be at.

With 1000 members, our individual views will be many and varied; I trust that those individual views continue to be respected and we continue to be the Friendly Club.

Any questions on this matter please let me know.
