Hi All,

I hope you are well. Below I outline a number of matters from around the club.

Any questions please let me know.

Scott Meiklejohn

General Manager

Covid update

As members will be well aware, the government have recently announced a road map for Covid management and a number of measures in relation to a traffic light system and vaccination mandates.

There is still much more clarification required of how this impacts a golf club, but in the meantime I wish to advise that Management and the Board are working through how this impacts the club and what we policies need to be implemented.

I will continue to update members on the matter as we proceed, in the meantime we continue with Alert Level 2 restrictions as previously outlined, main points being wearing of masks indoors, scanning QR codes minimising movement around the clubhouse and vaccinations aren't required to play or access facilities.

New Constitution

Thank you to those members who have provided feedback on the proposed constitution. We are still accepting feedback for another 2 weeks, ideally this is in a written form via email.

AED (Defibrillator)

Unfortunately our AED (Defibrillator) has gone missing which is very disappointing, a couple of points on this;

  1. If you know anything about its whereabouts please let me know.
  2. We don’t currently have one on site, if medical issue that requires an AED is occurring please dial 111 immediately.

Omanu Masters

Due to withdrawals from Auckland and Waikato entrants we still  have space.

If you wish to enter we still have availability, please contact the office.

Dates 13th & 14th November and entry fee of $70 for members.

Thursday Twilight Golf

Thursday Twilight is now underway with  tee times 3-5.30pm, booking recommended.

Members $10, Visitors $25. Includes scramble fee, green fee and a drink from the Bar.

There is 2x trips for two to Wairakei to be won, with the more you play the more chance you have.

See attached flyer for details.

Membership subscription invoices were send early October, if you have yet to receive yours please contact the office.

For those that haven’t made any payment we will be removing booking rights from 1st November.

50th Anniversary Shirts

Last chance, orders will close on 1st November.

Cost is $65 per shirt with orders to the office.

Samples are displayed behind the counter in the Pro Shop, be sure to try on for size.

Tree Works

As members would have seen these works have started, we are now getting to a stage where the remaining works will often require a hole to be closed.

For Health & Safety reasons, if you hit your ball into the roped off work area, make sure you get workers attention before enter.

If a hole is closed it will be shown on a sign at the Pro Shop and tee of the closed hole. Please walk the hole and record 2 Stableford points if entering a card for handicapping.

As advised in previous communications a number of trees are being topped or cutdown as part of the airport height restriction works.

Members are welcome to take some firewood, please advise the office or green staff if doing so. As a matter of fairness at this stage we ask members to limit your take to two trailer loads.

Most of the wood is cut to a size that can be lifted onto trailers by hand.

We are asking those members that do take some to make a donation of $50 per tailer load to the junior programme, payable at the office.

Strictly no chain sawing, axe work or spliting to take place on Omanu grounds.

Steve Allen Handyman

With summer on the way now’s a great time to get your deck sorted or landscaping projects underway. Steve Allan has been a great supporter of the club for many years. We use him regularly for projects and can attest to his high standards of work. Give Steve a call on 0274 523 499 to discuss your next home improvement project.

Physiotherapist on Site

For the next 3 months on Wednesday’s from 1-5pm we will have Physiotherapist Jacqueline van Eis-Scott from Foundation Sports & Rehabilitation Clinic on site providing access 1-5pm Wednesdays.

Appointments will be free of charge to Omanu members.
