March Madness

Hello, me again and it’s time for the monthly update.

Firstly, congratulations to the winners of the Stroke play club championship, they were:-

Seniors            Tawera Williams  (defended his title)

Intermediate    Dave (Top Dog) Brown

Junior              Thomas Morrison

Junior B            Brian Hallinan

Well done those men, as for the rest of us, there’s always next year.

The rest of this month is pretty quiet, coring being the main event. This year, although the calendar says that on Saturday the 21st we are having an all irons day, we are going to change that and have a normal Saturday scramble, all clubs to be used!

The following Saturday, the 28th , will be the start of a new competition, the Ampt Electrical teams competition, for those that haven’t heard about this it goes as follows:-

Each team entered will consist of 6 members, once a month for the next 8 months, the top 3 scores from each team will count towards the “minor premiership” which is the best combined score for the 8 months, they will receive a prize (cash) from the sponsor. The top 4 teams will then play for the title “Top Team” on a weekend following that.  All 4 of the top teams will win prizes (cash again, original I know)

The entry fee for the competition will be $120 per team ($20 per player) and all the entry money will go into the prize pool.

You don’t have to play with your team members on the given weekend, just record your scores and hand them in.

We already have 13 teams entered, so the competition is a go, but it would be great to see more teams, as yet we haven’t had many/any from the Saturday morning crew, so it would be great to see you guys entering a couple of teams.

I think this could be a really fun and competitive comp and it doesn’t take a genius to work out that it could be quite lucrative for the winning teams.

For those that haven’t got 5 other players, just put your name down and others can put their name down with you, just like a start sheet, you can pay the money at the office.

The final entry date will be Friday 27th March, so put you names down (sheet in the men’s notice board) and good luck to all those entered.

Alastair Reed, Men’s Captain.
